 CUFFE: TAXED is a short film inspired by the true story of Paul Cuffe, a free Black and Wampanoag mariner who, during the Revolutionary War, was forced to pay taxes to the colonies while denied the right to vote. Told with irreverence, humor, and heart, the film reframes forgotten history—showing Black and Indigenous men risking their lives to deliver food to a white community in need. This untold story invites audiences to see Paul Cuffe as both a national hero and a man ahead of his time.   

 Cuffe’s story is not just history, it’s a call to action. No matter what surrounds us, like Cuffe, we continue on. We thrive. We survive. We are still here.
